A note on the door of Old Towne Grill and Seafood indicates that the restaurant is now "temporarily closed" -- a fact that's hardly surprising given yesterday's highly noted fire in the rear portion of the structure.

That fire at 229 King Street in downtown Charleston produced a large volume of smoke, and raised fears that the nearby historic Riviera Theatre would be heavily damaged.

If you're bummed out that the downtown icon -- open since 1972 -- is at least temporarily closed, you can breath a little easier knowing that the family's Zeus Grill & Seafood in Mount Pleasant and North Towne Grill & Seafood in North Charleston are still open.
