Georgetown paper mill targeted by pollution lawsuit

Citing the release of a slew of toxic chemicals, a group has filed a class-action suit against International Paper for activities at the Georgetown paper mill

Read more stories on this subject in our air quality topic page.But Georgetown is not alone in its air pollution woes. The report by USA Today that sparked a chain of events that led to the suit ranked a dozen Charleston schools as being in the first percentile for the worst air in the nation. 

The Chicora Elementary School was pegged at having the 169th worst air in the nation.

Charleston's air has also been given an "F" rating by the American Lung Association.
