New 10-foot-tall bulldog at The Citadel

Mascot tip: The General is the nephew of UGA V (that's Georgia's mascot) and also has ties to the United State Marine Corps bulldog and Mississippi State University. He's also one of two bulldogs at the Citadel. Bulldogs have roots as the school's mascot dating back to the early 1900s. Which, as far as I can tell, trumps the University of Georgia.A new 600-to-800 pound monument in the likeness of Boo V stands guard at The Citadel.

Here's a bit about it from The Citadel:
Poised ferociously on the corner of Hagood Avenue and Congress Street, this impressive statue, on its pedestal, will stand 10 feet tall, watching over the Corps of Cadets while gazing protectively toward The Citadel campus.

The monument can be seen over at Johnson Hagood Stadium.

And, don't forget, The Citadel plays its first football game of the year Saturday.
