Starting today, the United States Postal Service is hiring rural drivers for Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Lexington, Spartanburg, Sumter, and Newberry.

The position is for part-time rural and city postal carriers with a salary of $19.45 an hour plus 73.5¢ per mile for rural and $21.66 for city. These new hires will basically be back-up for the areas' regular rural drivers when they have days off and/or take their vacations. These part-time positions often become full-time.

Requirements:

Rural Carrier Associates must be available to work on an as needed basis; must have a valid drivers license; two years driving experience with good driving record; provide reliable vehicle for delivery of mail; meet personal and medical suitability; and pass road tests administered by Postal Service examiners.

Don't run out to your nearest Post Office and ask for an application, as they are only taking applications online. You can view the rural description here, and the city description here.
