Charleston wilts under record heat, now smoke -- brimstone next?

Yesterday turned out to be as much of a scorcher as was thought, with records being set across the region — what's more is that we're getting more smoke from those regional fires this morning.

Charleston's high of 99 beat out the 2002 record of 97, and the record of 100 degrees set in 1880 in Savannah was trumped with a high of 102.

Yesterday also marked the 33rd day straight where the high exceeded 90 degrees.

As for today, expect a relatively "cool" 93 degrees with a feel of just 97 and a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

We'll be sure to let you know when the brimstone is spotted.
