Update July 29: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Lowcountry that will last throughout the weekend.

For Friday, there is a heat advisoryin effect from noon until 8 p.m. Look out for heat index values of 105 to 107 degrees, with brief heat index values up to 110 degrees possible as sea breezes move across coastal counties.

As for the weekend, hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to produce heat indices generally in the 105 to 110 degree rage each afternoon over the weekend and possibly beyond.

First reporting: After some serious rains, flooding, and power outages across the area, that good old Charleston heat is headed back to town after its little hiatus.

Although there is still a great deal of moist air about, it looks as though we'll be facing that scorching summertime heat as we head towards the weekend. That lingering moist air has the potential to produce a shower or thunderstorm today, but a high-pressure system is on the way in to dry us out.

Here's what to expect for the next couple of days, according the Live 5 News's weather report:

A mix of sun and clouds for Thursday as highs head back into the low to mid 90s. Still may see a few afternoon storms, but most of us will stay rain free. The heat really kicks in on Friday and into the weekend. Highs will be in the mid to upper 90s and the heat index will climb above 100 degrees. Rain chance will stay around 20%, mainly as the seabreeze moves inland.
