Two West Ashley homes were reported to have been struck by lightning in Tuesday night's storms.

One of the in Shadowmoss Plantation was inspected but no sign of danger was found. Also, trees were knocked down in the storm.

Firefighters say the bolt struck the chimney and damaged it, but they say luckily nothing caught on fire.

Unfortunatley, all the rain doesn't look like it will help cool tomorrow's to-be blistering heat off. The National Weather Service forecasts: "Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Partly cloudy, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 101. Southwest wind between 9 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%."

In somewhat-related news, lightning struck the tall ship Spirit of South Carolina while it was in Rhode Island.
