If you're gay and someone who wants to visit or live at Folly Beach's community, it just became harder to be discriminated against — at least openly so.

Joining Charleston and Columbia, Folly Beach has become the third South Carolina community to ban discrimination based upon a person's sexual orientation.

Charleston passed a similar ordinance in 2009.

Also protected are a person's age, sex, nationality, color, religion, family status, and disability.
