Mount Pleasant named an 'All-America City'

Yes, Mount Pleasant has joined the list of some 500 cities honored with the title of "All-America City" by the National Civic League.

What's it mean? Well think of it as a pat on the back as the award is given to communities that have "shown the ability to innovate in such areas as job creation, neighborhood revitalization, crime reduction, new housing for low income people, improving education, and engaging youth."

The league has been giving the award since 1949 and this year they gave it to 10 other cities across the country. Many other South Carolina cities have won the award such as: Hartsville, Aiken, Florence, Columbia (twice), and, yes, even Charleston (you may have seen the sign while driving in on I-26?).
