Charleston port chief won't weigh in on North Charleston rail debate

Despite much encouragement from North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey and the city's council, S.C. State Ports Authority CEO Jim Newsome wouldn't pick a side in the debate over how rail will reach the new port. 

Newsome's thesis is the decision isn't up to the port, so it doesn't matter what he thinks.

Last week the city filed a lawsuit over the plan to bring rail along the city's river side.
