Democrat expected to drop from S.C. 1st District race, endorse Elizabeth Colbert Busch (Update: Confirmed)

Update February 12: Skelly has dropped out of the race and, as expected, endorsed Colbert Busch

Patch caught up wtih Colbert Busch and chatted on video, saying that she has what it takes for a Democrat to win the 1st Congressional District, something that hasn't happened in 30 years.

First reporting: Charleston business man Martin Skelly is expect to announce today that he will drop from the 1st Congressional District race and endorse fellow Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch.

A joint press conference is slated for today, February 11, at 11:30 a.m.

One other Democrat and 16 Republicans remain in the special election to take the 1st Congressional District seat vacated by Rep. Tim Scott.

The GOP and Democrat primary is slated for March 19. If needed, a primary runoff is due April 2. The special election will follow on May 7.
