Final verdict expected this week in S.C. stimulus battle

Today, June 3, the S.C. Supreme Court heard arguments in the battle for who controls some $700 million in federal stimulus money.

Read more stories on this subject in our stimulus package topic page.During the two-and-a-half hour hearing parties made their case for why Governor Mark Sanford can or cannot be required to request the money.

The State has a full write-up of the proceedings.

The high court said it hopes to issue its written ruling by Friday. -- It's a verdict that Sanford has said he won't challenge.
