S.C. House votes for greater accountability

Just a day after the S.C. Senate voted in favor of more record keeping on how its members vote, the S.C. House added to its transparency efforts to record votes on "each section of the state budget, conference committee reports and amended legislature returned from the Senate," according to a press release from the South Carolina Policy Council.

FITSNews reports:

The biggest difference between the two plans is that every section of the state budget will now receive an up-or-down vote in the House, which should provide for greater scrutiny of individual spending items in the state spending plan.

Passage of the rule change was an about-face for House leadership, which had spent months fighting against these reforms.
