The beautifully constructed homes and buildings in the Charleston area are truly a sight to behold, but which buildings to the pro's go gaga for?

The Post and Courier has a post on the winners of the recent design contest held by the Charleston chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The contest was judged by by Marleen Davis, distinguished professor and former dean of the University of Tennessee's College of Architecture and Design, and New Orleans architects Judith Kinnard, Angela O'Byrne and Steve Dumez.

Among this years' winners were the Medical University of South Carolina's Ashley River Tower's "sail tower," the steeple addition to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Broad Street, renovation at 97 Broad Street, Charles Towne Landing's Founders Hall and the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge.
