Charleston area home sales drop 37 percent in July

Following the expiration of the $8,000 federal tax credit for first time home buyers, home sales for the month of July dropped a whopping 37 percent in the Charleston area.

July saw only 643 area home sales compared to the 1,022 sales in the month of June.

According to The Post and Courier's article, local real estate agents were expecting a drop in sales last month, but were still taken aback by July's numbers.
