Update March 31: The Charleston Regional Business Journal has their own article on the plans for the new hotel along with a full-sized PDF of the hotel rendering.

First reporting: The Patriots Point's board of directors have given the first nod of approval for a 92-room hotel project planned to go up beside the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina in Mount Pleasant.

The swanky new hotel is to be bigger, grander, and more luxurious than her sister hotel. Think spa, three pools, cabanas, an outdoor event space, and more.

The Post and Courier reports that yesterday's resolution allows hotel construction at the proposed location, adjusts setbacks, and changes zoning to grant a height of 80 feet. For the proposal to continue to move forward, it needs approval from Mount Pleasant's Planning Commission, Planning Committee of Council, and Town Council.
