Charleston has been put on what the National Trust for Historic Preservation calls "watch status" due to concerns having to do with the area's expanding cruise industry.

Watch status means that the threat of Charleston becoming an endangered historical place is growing. And the reason behind it is the ongoing debate regarding the growing presence of Carnival Cruise Lines in our Holy City, which turned into a lawsuit earlier this week.

The National Trust wants to help sponsor a study focused on the impact that the cruise industry will have and is having on Charleston, in hopes that solution options will arise that could help regulate the industry.
