Update April 13: A group of people that were involved in the College of Charleston's Center for the Documentary are crying foul about the center's closing.

The Charleston City Paper has a lengthy article about the controversy as well as quotes from a variety of former faculty and students; read it here.

First reporting: Citing budget woes and the relatively small number of students that participate in the program, the College of Charleston's Center for the Documentary has been closed.

In a department which formerly boasted 20 staff members, only three or four remain, and their talents have been redirected to the College's marketing department.

The Post and Courier has more on this recent development.
