The day after Charleston flooded it was dried and there was a coverage roundup

Yesterday was not only a particularly soggy day in Charleston, it was a record day for rainfall.

A record of 2.95 inches was recorded at the Charleston International Airport in North Charleston, breaking the old record of 1.9 inches set in 1953. There were also reports of much higher local rainfall in the 4-5 inch range.

With little surprise this also lead to much flooding in downtown Charleston and the shutdown of many roads.

ABC News 4 has a bit of raw video of cars driving in those water and The Post and Courier has posted a photo gallery from the day with your usual gamut of "flooded Charleston," the most interesting of those was this shot traffic blitzing through the U.S. 17 Crosstown lakes. It's a problem which recently got federal funding for a fix and streetscape for the road.

Live 5 News has video of flooding in a North Charleston mobile home park.

On the upside the rain looks to be gone for today and there should be more seasonable hight, but the rain is back on Wednesday and Thursday in large amounts but question is where the moisture will condense and how much will fall in the ocean and how much on land.

Either way the weekend should be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s.
