Heat 'feel' expect to hit 117 today in Lowcounty

Expected heat indexes at 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service is once again issuing a warning to drink plenty of fluids and watch for heat exhaustion as warm weather combines with high humidity to create heat indexes of 117. 

Read more stories on this subject in our weather topic page.The heat index in Charleston, Beaufort, and Savannah are expected to hit 114 by 2 p.m. The warning continues until 8 p.m.

Afternoon thunderstorms are possible, and could produce damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall. 

Warm weather is expected to remain for much of the week, but with slightly lower indexes.
