Currently, under South Carolina law if a teen is caught 'sexting' they could be arrested and face felony charges, a little harsh for a dumb mistake.

However, lawmakers are pushing a bill that would simply impose fines to the teens. This past Wednesday, February 29, the House Judiciary subcommittee passed the bill that would make it illegal for kids 12 to 17 years of age to knowingly transmit sexually explicit photos with a $100 fine attached as punishment. Both the state senate and house are working on similar bills.
