An updated hurricane plan: Buses to Columbia and pets welcome

A lot is the same as usual, and all lanes of I-26 will still point to Columbia. Different is that buses won't take folks to local shelters but during a big storm will take those who can't drive out themselves to the Charleston Area Convention Center to have them board charter buses to Columbia.

Also new: Pet's are welcome.

The Post and Courier has a nice rundown about how all this would work.

If you're interested in how to drive out, here's South Carolina's evacuation routes and lane reversals.
