The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority will be showing their appreciation to the military and its veterans this Friday, November 11th.  For the observation of Veterans Day, CARTA will provide free rides for any veteran of the US armed forces or active duty member.

“We have a great amount of active military and veterans that are already regular riders on the CARTA lines,” said Christine Wilkinson, CARTA Interim Executive Director. “Offering free rides will not only be a great way to thank our regular passengers but offer the entire military community alternate transportation at no cost.”

Veterans and active duty members may use CARTA’s regular fixed route system, and the premium services such as CARTA Express and Route 402.

Passengers will need to present proper identification in order to obtain a free ride.  Examples of acceptable identification forms include: United States Uniformed Service ID card, Veterans Administration card, and/or American Legion or VFW membership cards.
