Update March 16, 4:07 p.m.:

The Post and Courier reports that The Patriots Point Development Authority voted 3-3 on the proposal to build a monument at the state-owned attraction that would mark South Carolina’s secession from the Union 150 years ago.

The tie vote means that the idea has failed.

First reporting:

The board of the Patriots Point Development Authority will consider today whether or not to allow the Sons of Confederate Veterans to erect an 11 and a half foot monument commemorating the state's secession from the Union almost 150 years ago.

The State has the story.
