Pint of Hope Zombie Pub Crawl Returns to Park Circle for Lowcountry AIDS Services Fundraiser

Zombies will return to Park Circle for the fourth annual Pint of Hope Zombie Pub Crawl, benefiting Lowcountry AIDS Services. Presented by Holy City Brewing, this fall fundraiser is 5-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at restaurants and bars in North Charleston’s Park Circle area.

Lowcountry AIDS Services began the Pint of Hope event in 2011, a reference to the hope that one day HIV/AIDS will be eradicated across the globe. Last year, Lowcountry AIDS Services added the zombie theme, inspired by the success of “The Walking Dead” and similar events in other cities. The concept was a hit, and the agency is excited to expand upon that theme again this year.

Attendees are invited to dress in their best zombie costume and join the apocalypse for a pub crawl like no other. Teams of one to four visit the bars and restaurants in Park Circle, filling their scorecard at each stop. Participating bars/restaurants include Sesame Burgers and Beer, The Barbecue Joint, EVO Pizza, DIG in the Park, The Mill, Madra Rua Irish Pub, The Brew Cellar, Fratello’s and The Sparrow. At the end of the evening, teams enter their scorecard into a grand prize drawing.

Presenting sponsor Holy City Brewing will be offering up pints at each establishment, some of which will be featured at the Great American Beer Fest in October in Denver. Also new this year, Holy City Brewing has created a zombie-themed beer specifically for this event. The brew is a pumpkin stout made with brain strain hot peppers. In a Facebook naming contest, local resident Joe Niedzwecki’s won two tickets to the Pub Crawl for his name: Brain Squasher.

The pub crawl ends at DIG in the Park for live music from DJ Big Hair Dave of Big Hair Productions, a silent auction, prizes for the best costume and more.

Event proceeds benefit Lowcountry AIDS Services, the only organization in the greater Charleston area whose sole purpose is enhancing the quality of life for men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. Lowcountry AIDS Services offers everything from prevention education and awareness to linking HIV-positive individuals into medical care, helping to secure stable housing, obtain legal assistance, and an array of other supportive services.

In addition, establishments along the pub crawl route donate a portion of their proceeds to Lowcountry AIDS Services. Additional event sponsors included The Event Cooperative, Belk, Gil Shuler Graphic Design, Snyder Event Rentals and Vive le Rock Productions.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door. Buy three tickets, get one free. For more information and tickets details, visit aids-services.com/events/.
