Vetoes and signatures: It's the legislative countdown in South Carolina

Image by Flickr user JuditK Time's almost up.

Update June 20: A week has passed in the Legislature's special extended session to wrap up work — and some things are done (or moving along) and some haven't budged much (Haley v Legislature drama, we're looking at you.)

We've talked about some of the latest changes already, but for a solid rundown on what's happening I'll point you over to The Post and Courier's roundup.

First reporting June 17: The 119th South Carolina General Assembly session has run from January 11 and is in its final days passing a budget, drawing lines, and sparring with the governor on vetoes.

Passed and signed are tort reform to limit damages in lawsuits, a discount on taxes for second homes and commercial properties, and reduced unemployment benefits.

Rebuffed by Gov. Nikki Haley's veto pin are school district borrowing, I-95 corridor economic development plan, and care for ailing seniors.

I'll shoot you on over to The State for a solid rundown on what's up; read it here.
