Alpha-1 Foundation and Alpha-1 Association Education Day

CHARLESTON, South Carolina-- Your opportunity to become more informed about Alpha-1 is here! On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Alpha-1 Foundation and the Alpha-1 Association are co-hosting an Alpha-1 education day.

 This event is a one-day meeting where Alphas, friends and family can view displays on the Foundation’s various programs and attend a variety of presentations.

Charlie Strange, MD, will be giving a presentation on Alpha-1 research updates and Alpha-1 liver disease. Strange is the director of the Alpha-1 Foundation Research Registry. Mike Graves, the Alpha-1 Foundation Research Registry coordinator will also be speaking.

Respiratory therapist Marilyn Henderson, BA, RRT, RPFT, will talk about detection in the pulmonary lab and Ashley Sisson, MED, RN, will explain the importance of pulmonary rehabilitation. A discussion on genetic counseling programs will be given by Dawn McGee, MS, CGC.

Other speakers include Angela McBride, director of development for the Alpha-1 Foundation and Marlene Erven, executive director of the Alpha-1 Association.

A free patient dinner will be held at 6:30 pm Friday, Nov. 4.
