Charleston looks to be first in planning 150th anniversary of Civil War

In December 1860, Charleston was at the forefront of history when it seceded from the Union putting in motion events that lead to the Civil War in April 1861.

As we approach the 150th anniversary of the war, Charleston wants to make sure its at the forefront again, only with good results this time around. Planning is picking back up and the hope is to secure the limelight and tourist dollars before other stats like Virginia can.
