Entrepreneurship Course Tackles the Business of Creativity

Lowcountry Local First (LLF) is partnering with the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department and Clemson University to provide a 10-week business development course for creative entrepreneurs. The course will run from Thursday, January 10, 2013 to Thursday, March 14, 2013, and will provide individuals in nontraditional industries tools to develop sustainable business models and create a strong economic impact for the Lowcountry. Admission to the course is $145 prior to December 27, and $195 thereafter.

The Lowcountry is blessed with a rich and dynamic creative sector, and this course is designed to help entrepreneurs in the sector realize their full economic and promotional potential. Leaders from the Lowcountry’s creative industries will be on hand to guide both new and seasoned creative professionals through developing a business plan, creating viable products, and implementing effective marketing strategies.

Housed under LLF’s Buy Local Initiative, the Creative Entrepreneurship Series is the first of several new community engagement programs the organization will roll out in 2013. It was created out of a desire to expand on LLF’s objective of creating a vibrant, interdependent community within the Lowcountry, and to promote the amazing work that the region’s creative professionals produce every day. Class will be held at North Charleston’s Old Village Community Building, located at 4820 Jenkins Ave. To register for the course, visit http://www.lowcountrylocalfirst.org/creative.
