Katie's project was founded in 2008, by St. James High School student Katie Rhoden. Katie wanted to help students with the cost of formal wear for prom. Kathy Foxworth of LITUS properties helped establish Katie's project as a nonprofit organization. Run solely on donations and volunteers Katie’s project helps underprivileged Horry County teens attend prom in style. Katie’s Project provides: formal wear, photography, makeup, shoes, accessories, dinner, transportation, and even the cost of prom tickets for teens who cannot afford to go to prom.

Katie's project is always excepting donations, they are in need of:

  • Gently used formal wear (gowns and tuxedos)
  • Shoes
  • Accessories
  • New Makeup
  • Costume Jewelry
  • Gift Certificates for dinner
  • Monetary donations

Mr. Myrtle Beach Man Pageant is one of the fundraisers used by Katie's Project. Each contestant competes to get the most votes. Each vote is a monetary donation to Katie's Project. If you know someone or would like to be a contestant you can enter here: 302http://katiesproject.org/ContestantApplication/
