Sea Island Nonprofit Raises Money to Support Residents in Need

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach hosted their 20th Annual Golf Tournament on May 30 at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek on John’s Island. More than 100 golfers and volunteers came together to raise $43,500. Donations from the annual event will help provide educational opportunities and resource assistance that encourage self-sufficiency and the desire for a better future for area residents.

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach is a nonprofit organization serving individuals and families suffering from poverty, lack of education and illness on Johns, James and Wadmalaw Islands as well as in downtown Charleston through their sister organization, the Neighborhood House. Established in 1989, Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach provides support to more than 11,000 residents each year through educational programs, health services including pre-natal and dental care, and by offering emergency assistance services for basic human needs such as food pantry and clothing availability.
