An Interview with Sue Stevens, Director, Charleston International Airport

Sue Stevens graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, with a BA in Business Administration, and has done graduate work at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.  Since joining the Charleston County Aviation Authority in 1987, she has worked as Director of Finance and Administration, and then as Deputy Director of Airports.  In 2006, she joined a small number of female airport directors in the nation when she was chosen Director of Airports for the Authority. Ms. Stevens earned her accreditation as an Airport Executive in 1994, and has held various leadership positions in the American Association of Airport Executives, including President of the Southeast Chapter from 1998 to 1999.  She is also a member on the Board of Airports Council International- North America.  On the local level, she has been an active member of the Charleston Trident Chamber of Commerce since 1992 and is a member of the North Charleston Breakfast Rotary Club.  She has been involved in the Charleston Air Force Base Honorary Commanders’ Program since 2003, and has participated in functions with the United States Air Force to promote awareness and understanding between the military and the local community.
