Shopping With Friends Marks 10 Years of Supporting Lowcountry AIDS Services

Shopping With Friends, an annual fundraiser for Lowcountry AIDS Services, is celebrating 10 years with a new twist on its event and even more retail and restaurant partners. Join Lowcountry AIDS Services and The Event Cooperative for a pre-shopping evening out on the town at the “Casablanca Night” Ball from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at Hibernian Hall, 105 Meeting St. in Charleston.

Local jazz musician Charlton Singleton will present a 14-piece Big Band and there will be a Moroccan Banquet and open bar. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1940s glamour attire. Tickets are $80 per person and available at shoppingwithfriends.org.

The following day, everyone is invited to shop for a good cause on Saturday, Dec. 7. Dozens of Red Ribbon retailers and restaurants in the Charleston area are participating in Shopping With Friends. Those businesses will donate 10% of every dollar spent back to Lowcountry AIDS Services to help men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in the Charleston region.

In its 10 years, Shopping With Friends has raised more than $725,000 to provide support groups, education, counseling, legal services, housing assistance, nutrition counseling and HIV testing, prevention education and more.

“As we mark the 10th anniversary of this incredible community event, we’re excited to introduce the ball in the evening followed by a day of shopping for a wonderful cause,” said Brad Childs, executive director of Lowcountry AIDS Services. “This is truly a celebration of the work Lowcountry AIDS Services has done all year thanks to our supporters, business partners and volunteers.”
