It's shaping up to be a wonderful weekend in the Lowcountry, and there's a great new place to spend time enjoying the outdoors.

The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission recently completed a nature trails project at its North Charleston Wannamaker County Park. The agency was able to add and renovate a combined 2.5 miles of nature trails. The improvements provide better access and maneuverability for all citizens and link these new trails with the existing nature and paved trails through the park.

The trails take visitors through a hardwood forest, alongside the Goose Creek Reservoir, by live oak clusters dating to at least 100 years and include 450 feet of new boardwalks, six new benches and two swings.

There's even more information about the new trails provided on the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission's website; read it here.

Wannamaker County Park is located at 8888 University Boulevard (Highway 78) in North Charleston.
