NASCAR's age requirements have changed this year for regional Whelen All-American Series races. That means 14 year olds are eligible to race in most series that are run at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Since big tobacco sponsorship has been pulled from NASCAR around 2003, the age requirements of drivers and crew have slowly been lowered. Kurt Knapek of The Sun News has a quick write up including some quotes from the General Manager of Myrtle Beach Speedway. Read it here.

Update: The April 16th race has been cancelled due to weather according to the Myrtle Beach Speedway website.
