Battery put out the Fire, head to US Open Cup quarterfinals

The Charleston Battery have secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open.

The Battery knocked out Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire with a penalty-kick shootout victory. The Battery's Lamar Neagle, Mike Zaher and Ian Fuller put balls in the net while only two of the Fire's players could convert. The team will be taking on MLS’s Columbus Crew in Columbus next Tuesday night.

In the interim, The Battery heads to Richmond on Saturday as it returns to USL-2 action with a 1 p.m. game versus the Richmond Kickers.
