The City of Charleston Recreation Department has launched a new online tool for use through the City of Charleston website. The new program, called Recreation Online, will enable residents to register for recreation programs, activities and athletics throughout the city, as well as view and request facility reservations for certain facilities.

The City of Charleston Recreation Department and Department of Information Technology worked during 2011 to use technology to streamline operations and administrative functions. Recreation Online is the result of this effort, using Rec Trac Software from Vermont Systems Incorporated.

On January 3, 2012, the City of Charleston began use of Recreation Online, which can be easily accessed by the public from a link on the City of Charleston’s website under Recreation Department or link at top of front page.

Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. said, “Our hope is that those who participate in City recreation activities or use City facilities will find Recreation Online easy to use, make registration for programs more convenient and be a way to save time. This should especially be helpful for parents of participants in our youth programs.”
