Arcadian Shores Golf Club will be one of about 45 golf facilities in North and South Carolina that will host a Family Golf Day on Saturday, July 28, 2012.

Family Golf Day is a new promotion of the PGA of America, which conducts the PGA Championship. The promotion is being offered to the 190 golf courses throughout the Carolinas PGA Section.

Arcadian Shores will offer a free kids golf clinic from 9 a.m. to noon, with a six-hole putting contest to follow.  “This is a program that fits in well with the kind of core values we have and we welcome the chance to participate in a program that brings families to the golf course,” said Jason Mitchell, head professional at Arcadian Shores.

To register, visit Arcadian Shores in person at 701 Hilton Road in Myrtle Beach or call the pro shop at (843) 449-5217. After lunch, kids will have the chance to play free on the course if accompanied by a paying adult.

There are 22 additional golf courses and businesses across the Grand Strand hosting Family Golf Day events.  You can putt on over to the Play Golf America site to see the full list, as well as contact numbers for more information.  We've also got a map below of the locations.

Participants at each of the events will have the chance to win practice round tickets to the upcoming PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, August 6 - 12.
