North Charleston City Gallery to Exhibit 4th Annual Cherokee & Native American Art Showcase

The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department is pleased to announce that the 4th Annual Cherokee & Native American Art Showcase will be on exhibit at the North Charleston City Gallery during the month of June.

The exhibition, titled We the People of Kituhwa, is curated by Chane & Able Productions and co-sponsored by the QBI798 Project and the Inter-tribal Center for Social Change (ICSC). Pieces on display will include works by watercolorist, Silvia Williams, as well as photographs by QBIART1789. Featured photographs depict the political climate during Eastern Band Cherokee tribal elections in 2011, economic development of downtown Cherokee, NC, and cultural events co-sponsored by the tribe, including inter-tribal celebrations with tournament sports. The exhibition will be on display from June 1 – 30, 2012. The public is invited to attend a free reception at the gallery on Thursday, June 7, from 5:00-7:00pm. Refreshments will be served.
