Jack Graham, 74, recently stopped by the Sullivan's Island lighthouse for one more look at it. Graham designed the lighthouse back in the late '50s.

Read more stories on this subject in our Sullivan's Island topic page. The Post and Courier writes:
Engineers originally had designed for the Coast Guard a 12-sided round lighthouse that Graham said was a World War I monstrosity and so he was asked to give it a shot. Graham had studied under architect Louis Kahn at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design. Graham said Kahn was obsessed with the triangle.

Fittingly enough, Graham's design has been criticized for being too typical of its own era.

The Post and Courier also did a story on the light back in September 2008.
