Hotels in the Charleston area had far more open beds in November 2008 than 2007.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal reports:
Hotels in Charleston County were about 60% occupied in November, a decline of 8.6% compared with November 2007 rates, according to a report from the College of Charleston’s Office of Tourism Analysis.

The good news, if you own a hotel downtown, is that vacancy rates were only 0.2 percentage points higher.
