Americans fleeing a devastated Haiti safely arrived at the Charleston International Airport. There were 54 evacuees onboard, including 15 returning volunteers.

Passengers hailed from all over the country. John Farris, from Henderson Tenn. was volunteering in Haiti for a week, and reportedly waited 13 hours to get a flight returning to the States.

Dereck Becker a S.C. Emergency Preparedness Division representative says it's still unclear how many more flights from Haiti will arrive in Charleston.

For now, we welcome the returning passengers back, and thank those who helped a recovering Haiti.
