Warnings of rain, thunder, hail tonight

Some nasty rain, lightning, and hail could be in our near future.

The National Weather Service is warning of severe thunderstorms and possible hail tonight:
An unseasonably warm and moist air mass will blanket southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina this afternoon and tonight. ... The main hazards associated with any severe thunderstorms are expected to be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Hail is also possible in stronger storms.

Severe weather is possible this afternoon just about anywhere to the west of Interstate 95 in Georgia and inland from the U.S. 17 corridor in South Carolina. The risk of severe weather ... may increase over southeast South Carolina during the overnight.

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. South wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Low around 65. South wind between 11 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Southwest wind around 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
