Recent tests show that the percentage of 9th-grade students reading at or below the 4th grade level has significantly fallen in the Charleston area.

Hop on over to The Post and Courier to read about what's going on.

In that piece, Diette Courrégé writes that still nearly one-in-six of our 9th graders are being outflanked by "average" 5th grade readers.

Good news, everyone, indeed.

Don't forget that the Trident Literacy Association is looking for donations to help combat poor reading skills in our population.
