Incumbents won many of the primary contests held Tuesday, as The Post and Courier reports. Lindsey Graham fended off a challenge for his U.S. Senate seat, and County Coroner Rae Wooten took about 80 percent of the vote in her re-election bid.

Many races that were expected to be very tight turned out to be decided by large margins, as well, as Charleston City Paper writes.

Results from a couple of other contests that got a lot of attention:

- Scarlett Wilson defeated Blair Jennings and, without a Democratic challenger, is virtually assured of holding on to her position as 9th Circuit Solicitor after being appointed to the post last year by Gov. Mark Sanford. See The Post and Courier write-up here or watch video from Live 5 News.

- Mike Rose beat out state Sen. Randy Scott for the District 38 election that Rose held previously. This after Scott was arrested and charged with a DUI, which he has said was politically motivated. The case was dismissed by a magistrate last month, but prosecutors are vowing to appeal. Rose doesn't have a Democratic challenger for the general election. Live 5 News has the video.
