Sanford reformulates, asks again to redirect $700 million in stimulus funds

After receiving a rejection letter yesterday, S.C. Governor Mark Sanford has remixed his request to use $700 million in stimulus funding to pay down the state's debt instead of expanding or repairing cut programs.

This time, instead of directly paying down the state's debt, Sanford has asked to use money marked for schools to pay down school debt, and money marked for unemployment to pay down unemployment debt, and so on.

ABC News has the story, go read it, as does this Live 5 News story.

Update: Missed this write-up by The Post and Courier that has copies of the letters.
