Area residents dead in Mississippi bus crash

Update 2: The State is running an AP story that identifies the victims of the crash, including two people from the Charleston area: Paula Kemp of Mount Pleasant and Glenda Stone of Goose Creek.

The third person killed lived not too far from Charleston: Charlotte Carros of Eutawville (near Lake Marion and I-95).

Update August 11: The number of dead has been reduced to three from four. And Live 5 News updates with a few more details about who was on the bus, and notes that Charleston County Coroner expects to release the name today of the Charleston resident who died.

Original post: A bus carrying mostly passengers from South Carolina overturned early Sunday outside of Memphis, Tennessee. 43 people were on the bus when it spun 180 degrees and flipped on its side, sending twenty-seven to hospitals and killing four so far.

The bus was one of two casino busses filled with tourists headed to the airport. The passengers were scheduled to fly to Charleston this afternoon. The second bus was unharmed.

The Post and Courier reports that at least one of of the dead is a Charleston County resident.
