South Carolina Lottery sales are up by $6 million so far this year. -- I've seen a number of stories on this, most of which seem to express surprise that more folks are playing as the economy worsens. I'm not shocked at all, generally poorer folks play the lottery more as the situation becomes more desperate and winnings become more needed.
