Today's the big day for S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford and the state's lawmakers: A federal judge is hearing arguments on three lawsuits over $700 million in stimulus cash.
Read more stories on this subject in our stimulus package topic page. The big four questions are if this is a federal issue or should be decided in state court; does Sanford control the money; did the lawmakers act appropriately; and even if they didn't did the U.S. Congress give state lawmakers the power?
All are big questions, all of which The State has a good overview of.
We'll be sure to let you know what happens in the hearing.
Update June 1, afternoon: Indeed today was a setback for Sanford.
