Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce announces award for local area small business during annual luncheon event
CHARLESTON, S.C. (November 15, 2013) – EventWorks Rentals, a Charleston-based company, is honored to announce being named 2013 Small Business of the Year Award by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. The annual award celebrates the outstanding achievements of companies who are making a positive impact in the region.
“This year’s Small Business Award goes to a company that works diligently to support the organization’s foundation of providing high-quality products and superior service,” said Chris Fraser, Chairman-elect of the Charleston Metro Chamber. “In just over three years, they have become a success in the Charleston market and have branched out to Myrtle Beach. EventWorks has outgrown a 10,000 square foot warehouse and have moved into over 65,000 square feet of space in Charleston and Myrtle Beach. They give back by donating over $100,000 in products and services to various charities in Charleston.”
Award recipients are defined as companies that demonstrate characteristics such as civic leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, outstanding community contributions, social responsibility and substantial social and/or economic impact in the business region. Finalists were selected from a total of 208 Small Business Award nominees. The finalists were identified in late summer 2013, showcasing the diverse organizations from a variety of industries.
During the annual awards presentation, held at the Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston Chamber of Commerce recognized two levels of winners including EventWorks with 26-11 full time employees. Charleston Local Development Corporation was also recognized in the category of companies with 1-25 full-time employees.
